Victoria - Wyndham

On 11 September, 2022, Neighbourhood Watch Victoria hosted various of events inviting across Melton, Whittlesea and Wyndham, aiming to build connections in the neighbourhood by making residents feel safer and connected to the community.

The Asian Business Association participated, chatted to local business owners and liaised with representatives of the associations such as CFA, Werribee River Association and Sports Club in Wyndham by introducing the work that we do and inviting more to join us on the October Moon Festival. It was such a valuable experience that we got to be connected with the residents and , reaching the goal of expanding the partnership and making a difference in the Wyndham neighbourhood.

Wyndham Cup 2022 Basketball Game

The Wyndham Cup 2022 Basketball Game kicked off at Eagle Stadium, Werribee on 9 July, 2022. The game was hosted by the Asian Business Association of  Wyndham and the Australian Basketball Association. 

The first and second place of this game will receive generous cash coupons. Larry Zhao, President of the ABA Wyndham has customised medals for the players. The players on the court fought for their honours, showing the athletes strengths  and bravery, making Wyndham Cup this year extraordinarily competitive.

When the fierce competition finally came to an end, cheers from the audience flooded the stadium. Tensity was no longer on the court when players from the respective teams gave each other high fives and hugs, fully demonstrating the spirit of placing friendship before the competition.

Wyndham Table Tennis Cup “Star of the Future”

On Sunday, June 26, 2022, organised by the ABA of Wyndham and the Melbourne Table Tennis Club, undertaken by Matrix Global, and sponsored by LingoAce, Unitop, and David’s Hot Pot, the first "Wyndham Table Tennis - Star of the Future" was held at Eagle Stadium, Werribee.

The Table Tennis Cup has brought so much joy in the neighbourhood, while there was friendship and competitions.

Our young players have bonded with each other carrying the winning glory and the joy of connections.

The table tennis competition was a great success. Larry Zhao, President of the ABA of Wyndham and Zhang Guangyuan, President of the Melbourne Table Tennis Association as well as the sponsor representatives took a memory photo with the winner of the Wyndham Cup Table Tennis - Star of the Future".

2022 Wyndham Multicultural Festival

On May 29th, the 2022 Wyndham Multicultural Festival was ignited throughout Point Cook, hosted by the former Mayor of Wyndham City, the Honorary President of ABA of Wyndham, President Larry Zhao, and Vice President Aaron Zhang and members of the planning committee were busy from dark to dark, organising to present the fabulous event to the community.

This multicultural festival brought together clubs and organizations with different cultural and artistic backgrounds from many different countries in Wyndham, and has attracted wide attention from the political side. Mayor Peter Maynard attended the event and delivered a speech, along with other councillors.

Wyndham is a young and multicultural community. During the live event, everyone enjoyed traditional programs from different countries, including African drums, Indonesian Disney Princess series fashion show, rhythmic gymnastics performance by Rocketstars School, ballet, jazz dance solo + group dance, Indian dance, four men drumming performances, etc. There were special programs and activities for children as well. Kids sang and danced together on and off the stage, presenting the most genuine smile.

2022 Wyndham Table Tennis Cup

On April 16, 2022, the first Wyndham Cup Table Tennis Grand Competition, organised by the ABA of Wyndham and the Melbourne Table Tennis Club was held at Eagle Stadium, Werribee.

A total of 64 players participated in the competition, categorised as the professional group and the amateur group, fighting for championship through group round-robin. The arena was filled with the desire to win, the excitement and the enthusiasm for the game.

Hard work has been rewarded, as players shouting out with strength. Applause and congratulations to everyone that has participated!

Although the game was ​​titled as Wyndham Cup, under the vigorous promotion of Guangyuan Zhang, president of the Table Tennis Club and Larry Zhao, president of the ABA of Wyndham, it attracted players from the southeast of Melbourne and the Geelong Table Tennis Association to join as well.

Australia Day Celebration

 

The elegant display suite in Box Hill was the setting for The Asian Business Association of Wyndham Inc celebrating Australia Day 2022 and partnership with the Australia Day Council.


he celebration kicked off with the performance of the Melbourne Yangtze River Choir. Chairman Qin Mei Qin’s solo performances won lots of applause from the audience. 

 

Master Qizhou Liang, the descendant of Yang's Tai Chi in Melbourne, performed on the spot. His movements were smooth and flexible, presenting the beauty of the traditional martial arts.


Online video messages from the Hon MP Tim Pallas, State of Victoria Treasurer, Minister for Economic Development and Minister for Industrial Relations – Tina Liu, Mayor City of Whitehorse –  Cr. Sahana Ramesh, City of Wyndham – Bihong Wang, President ABAW Whitehorse acknowledged in their messages the importance and value of our indigenous community and praised the roles our migrant communities have played in building our prosperous Nation.

In their speeches, Bob Fairclough, former Mayor of the City of Wyndham, Prof Charles Qin, Hon President of the Asian Business Association Wyndham praised the Association under the leadership of Larry Zhao for their efforts and activities.
